FAQ’s
You’ve got questions and we have answers…
What exactly does Lullaby League do?
- Lullaby League holds social networking “mixers” allowing parents who are looking for top notch sitters to meet with sitters who are looking to work for fun and friendly families. If you are a student (18 yrs+) looking for a part time, casual babysitting work in the Metro Vancouver area or Southern Alberta, than Lullaby League is for you. It’s like speed dating…only it’s for parents and babysitters!
Does it cost anything to attend a Lullaby League mixer?
- No, sitter candidates do not pay any fee to attend a Lullaby League mixer.
Does Lullaby League do any background checks on the babysitters?
- No screening or background checks have been done on any of the babysitters (or families for that matter). We all are meeting for the first time at a Lullaby League mixer so it is up to you to do whatever screening process you feel necessary. The great thing about Lullaby League is that you have at least met the parent and have a sense of who they are and what they need for their family. Some parents do prefer screened sitters so if you would like to be a step ahead and obtain a police record check please see your local police department.
Nanny vs. babysitter-Can Lullaby League help with both?
- Lullaby League is really about part-time and occasional babysitting jobs. As the majority of the sitters are university students a flexible, changing scheduled is assumed and understood. Lullaby League is not a nanny service so if you are looking for a very specific schedule and have no flexibility this might not be the service for you.
What do babysitters charge these days?
- The range in the Vancouver area seems to be between $10-$15 an hour depending on how many kids, ages, etc. The rates are determined and agreed upon between the parents and babysitter.
Do I have to pre-register?
- You bet! Mixers fill up quickly and we need to make sure we have your information and that you meet some basic criteria. Completed Lullaby League babysitting resumes should be sent in as soon as possible to secure a spot.
Where are the mixers held?
- Mixers are held after business hours at cool and hip spots all around town. We try to find places that appeal to both sitters and moms and do our best to make it a convenient spot to get to. All Lullaby League registration needs to be done through us and not at the mixer location and all registration needs to be done prior to the mixer. Parents and sitters should attend the city mixer in which they live.
How do I know if I have been accepted as a sitter?
- After you have sent in your Lullaby League Babysitters Resume, you will receive confirmation from us regarding which mixer you have been accepted to. Just by sending in your resume does not guarantee you a spot. You do need to wait for confirmation. Prior to the mixer, you will receive more detailed information and some tips on how to make the most of the mixer.
What if I can’t make it?
- It is really important to actually show up (on time) the night of the mixer. We understand that things happen from time to time and you might not be able to make it but you need to contact us as soon as possible to let us know. If you pull a “no show” you will not be allowed to participate in any future events. As our mixers fill up quickly, we have waiting lists and we take our registration seriously.
Can I share the Parent Participation Sheet with friends who might want to babysit?
- No, No and No! The night of the mixer you will receive the Parent Participation sheet listing the names and contact information for the parents you meet. You can not share this information with anyone… Seriously-Not anyone! Feel free to tell all of your friends about Lullaby League so that they too can meet some families and start babysitting.
Is there any type of membership to Lullaby League?
- No, there is no membership involved in any of the Lullaby League mixers. You are welcome to attend more than one mixer (and we hope do) but you will need to register for each one individually. There are no fees or charges for sitters to attend and participate in any of the mixers.
Please see our full Terms and Conditions.
*Please note that no background checks have been performed on any of the potential candidates or clients, and that the employer and employee are responsible for all screening.
