FAQ’s
You’ve got questions and we’ve got answers…
What exactly does Lullaby League do?
- Lullaby League holds social networking “mixers” allowing parents who are looking for top notch sitters to meet with sitters who are looking to work for fun and friendly families. If you are a busy parent looking for a part time, casual babysitter in the Metro Vancouver area or Southern Alberta, than Lullaby League is for you. It’s like speed dating…only it’s for parents and babysitters!
Does it cost anything to attend a Lullaby League mixer?
- Parents attending the mixer pay a $50 registration fee (+ applicable taxes). There is no additional agency fee. With this fee you will receive The Lullaby List, a book which compiles all of the babysitters resumes, meet babysitting candidates as well as other parents in your area and have a fun night out. Cash, check or Pay Pal accepted. Babysitting candidates do not pay a fee to attend.
Does Lullaby League do any background checks on the babysitters?
- No screening or background checks have been done on any of the babysitters (or families for that matter). We all are meeting for the first time at the Lullaby League mixer so it is up to all of you to do whatever screening process you feel necessary. The great thing about Lullaby League is that you have at least met the person, had a mini interview and got a sense about them…more than you can say than if you were to answer an ad in the paper! If you would like more info on obtaining a police records check please see your local Police Department website.
Nanny vs. babysitter-Can Lullaby League help with both?
- Lullaby League is really about part-time and occasional babysitting jobs. Remember, most of our babysitters are students, so they will be working around their class schedule. Lullaby League is not a nanny service so if you are looking for a very specific schedule and have no flexibility this might not be the service for you.
What do babysitters charge these days?
- The range for sitters these days seems to be between $10-$15 an hour depending on how many kids, ages, etc. The rates are determined and agreed upon between the moms and babysitter.
Does everyone have to pre-register?
- You bet! Our mixers have sold out in a matter of days so please contact us to see if we have any space available.
Where are the mixers held?
- Mixers are held after business hours at cool and hip spots all around town. We try to find places that appeal to both sitters and moms and do our best to make it a convenient spot to get to. All Lullaby League registration needs to be done through us and not at the mixer location and all registration needs to be done prior to the mixer. Parents and sitters should attend the city mixer in which they live.
How many sitters will I meet at the mixer?
- Our goal is to assemble a dozen or so fabulous sitters for you to meet at each mixer. We certainly try to get as many qualified sitters together at each mixer as we can. We know it is tricky to find good sitters and sometimes it is tricky for us as well. Our goal is to have an even ratio of sitters and parents but can not guarantee how many sitters will actually attend the event (we think of this as a natural screening process. Better to find out early on that they are not reliable before you book them for a big event!).
What if I can’t make it?
- All parent cancellations must be make at least 48 hours in advance and will result in a $25 cancellation fee. If a cancellation is made under 48 hours prior to the start of the mixer, there is no refund. Let us know as soon as you can if you can not make it so we can let the moms on our waiting list know. For sitter candidates, if they don’t show up to a mixer (and have not contacted us ahead of time to let us know) they will not be allowed to participate in any future events. As our mixers fill up quickly, we take our registration seriously and don’t appreciate “no shows”.
Can I share The Lullaby List with my friend?
- No, No and No! You can not share The Lullaby List or any resumes with anyone… Seriously-Not anyone! Typically the sitters are young students and they need to feel comfortable and confident that their information is only shown to the appropriate people. Feel free to tell all of your friends about Lullaby League so that they too can meet the perfect babysitter.
Is this a paid membership to the Lullaby League?
- No it is not. The fee you pay is to attend one event. With that fee you receive The Lullaby List that includes all of the babysitters resumes from the evening. You have a chance to meet other moms, have a few sips and snacks and have a great night out.
Can I bring my children to a Lullaby League event?
- Sorry but you are gonna have to leave the little darlings at home. Because we hold our mixers at various boutiques and salons around town we need to be respectful of their space. We could all use a bit of a break so enjoy the time without guilt and get the most out of the Lullaby League mixer.
